Food security is a pressing challenge for Pakistan as changing weather patterns, mismanagement, both agriculatural and economic, have caused volatile and increasingly sparse food supply. Overpopulated, marginalized urban areas and slum dwellers already have limited access to nutritious food. The project seeks to engage underprivileged and disengaged youth from urban slums in Islamabad in productive activity where they learn how to grow, prepare and harvest fresh, organic food. This will help them meet their nutritional needs, learn about self-sustainability and also give them training to set up a small-scale business. The project outreach involves the larger community where schools are invited to participate in the activity. Our vision sees a future in which good health, innovation and productivity are an inherent part of their lifestyle.
