Since his youth, Mr. Bashir Ahmed has been gathering antique items relating to the culture and heritage of Kashmir. Beating great odds, he set up a museum to categorize and display these items. To date, it remains the only museum of any kind in the Neelum Valley. In 2015, Laajverd renovated the museum as a follow up to its visiting school.
The collection consists of household items, tools, pottery and apparel, dating back as far as 1700. These give a unique insight into Kashmir before electricity, roads, jeeps and the 1947 partition. It also hosts a developing catalogue of indigenous practices and living patterns in the Neelum Valley.
